Understanding Stress
Stress is a natural response to challenges, demands, or changes in life circumstances. It triggers the body's "fight or flight" response, releasing hormones like cortisol and adrenaline. In care, women learn to recognize their stressors, differentiate between acute and chronic stress, and develop effective coping mechanisms. Techniques such as mindfulness, deep breathing, and progressive muscle relaxation can help manage stress reactions.
Comprehending Trauma
Trauma refers to distressing experiences that overwhelm an individual's ability to cope, leaving lasting emotional and psychological scars. It can be caused by various events, such as abuse, accidents, loss, or witnessing violence. In care, women gain insights into trauma's wide-ranging effects, which can include flashbacks, nightmares, hypervigilance, and emotional numbing.
